This is a story about a girl who wants a pet. She goes through all of the options with her parents to no avail until one day she adopts a little bug. It is a sweet story - and one we can all relate to with our kids wanting something that we will not let them have. In the end the family is happy with the bug as a pet. The illustrations are lively and realistic. It is a quick book that will probably be enjoyed by most 2-5 year olds. Happy reading!!
I used this picture book to launch a unit on persuasive writing in grade 3. Students then wrote and illustrated their own "perfect pet" picture book.
My students loved the book. It was good for persuasive text practice.
Good book. Kids liked it. Arrived as expected.
