Despite being a doctor of 18 years at an academic institution (aka a medical school), I read this book cover to cover to begin to prepare my children for possible medical careers if they choose to go that way. I was also curious about the changes to the MCAT in 2015, having taken the previous version. It appears the science sections have changed relatively little compared to my experience both taking the MCAT and teaching review courses.Others have said this book is "concise." I don't think being concise is bad. You take organic chemistry to learn organic chemistry. You don't read a review book to learn it. Rather, this book shows you the end result of what you should have learned after organic chemistry combined with biochemistry. You don't need to know organic chemical synthesis to learn medicine, but you do need enough organic chemistry knowledge to learn biochemistry and pharmacology. The MCAT writers past and present are less concerned with the minutiae of basic science principles and more concerned that you know enough to take the next step into pathophysiology, microbiology, physiology, and neuroscience. This book highlights the information which the MCAT focuses on without being bogged down teaching what you have already learned and been tested on in your prerequisites. I had fun taking the practice questions and am surprised how much is relevant to my current medical practice.Along with practice tests, this book seems like a solid comprehensive review.

I wish I could give this book 0 stars. This book is riddled in typos and incorrect information. According to this book, the molecular mass of Helium is 2, gender is subjective, and the only people that exist in the world are whites and non whites 😳. This book is trash and I hate that other people have ever relied on this book. The publishers should fact check, proofread, and beta test this product before selling it.
I really like that the study guide offers a concise overview of some of the most commonly-tested pathways/topics/competencies/etc.I do think that it would always be longer/more thorough, but it’s a great supplement to my other materials.
