A great deal of information about Poland is presented here. The 180 maps cover 1000 years, since Poland adopted Western Christianity. Essays include a chronology, functioning of the Sejm (Parliament), and the prehistory and evolution of the Slavic languages group. However, poor cartography mars this diligent effort. Many of the maps are very busy, with complex shading variations and other symbols (such as tribal migrations) superimposed. Extraneous information, e.g., tribes in nearby regions, makes it difficult to pick out the important points. Most maps have insets summarizing events illustrated. Very informative and, in paperback, very affordable. I use it for genealogical backgraound information all the time even though some of it is on the internet.
It was perfect! Everything reached my expectations of excellence! I would recommend it to anyone. Youcanreatassured, that If you order, youwill be pleased.
This book seems to be to be a mock-up that accidentally got bound and sold before it had a chance to be edited by either the author or the publisher. It is filled with typos--English, not Polish, which I am not qualified to judge; contradictory dates; phrases, such as "Golden Freedoms," repeated but never explained; map borders overlaid on one another so it is impossible to see what's going on; legends missing on the maps. As a result, I am leery of its historical and geographical accuracy too, and feel I will have to double and triple check it against other sources before I can trust it.
