If you have a day to spend trying to figure out how this book was configured, then buy it. Otherwise it is with out a doubt the most convoluted book on Collectible fishing lures. I found nothing useful and I cannot believe that there was only slight mentions of Fred Arbogast who was a lure design pioneer. And even that was scattered out in the book which I believe was laid out by year classifications. Confusing and very incomplete. NO REFERRALS!
This book covered 90+% of the lures in the period my husband collects. Its color pictures make identifying lures quite easy, and explanations of other similar lures is quite valuable. He said all indexes should list a lure by name, because you may not know the maker. He did say it seemed to leave a lot of information out on southern lure makers. He had read 1/2 the book, before he set it down!
Gift for the hubby! He seems thrilled with this item. It was a good, quick transaction too. Item was just as described.
I bought the entire series and they would have been better to cover each maker verses time period. Because of the structure its hard to focus on a manufacturer. You just get a little of each in each book.
The worst organized and presented book I have ever seen with the exception of the bible. Bad photos and totally impossible to use. He schould have stopped with the first edition.
Same problem for me as Vol. 3. Not enough detail.
This book is amazing. It brings you through the years and has some flashbacks to previous volumes.The set Vol 1-5 would be a terrific Christmas gift for the collector.
