Very readable and convincing book by a physicist who found that Mars' atmosphere has anomalous amounts of certain isotopes of Argon and Xenon that not only do not occur in nature, they can only be created by using a hydrogen bomb to fission Uranium and Thorium. Based on the concentrations of the various isotopes on Mars, he estimates the massive explosion(s) to have occured 250-500 million years ago, blasting away Mars' atmosphere and leaving Mars a freeze dried radioactive desert. Brandenberg discusses evidence of the possible ruins on Mars of artificial structures, leading to the inference that Mars' devastation was an act of war. An answer to Enrico Fermi's famous question: "where is everbody?" and a heads up for us.

I enjoyed reading Death on Mars. I’m trained at an engineer and I liked the use of equations and graphs to visually describe what the author is say with words. The point of the Death on Mars is the amount of Xenon 129 in Mars atmosphere can only be explained by a large scale Fusion (Hydrogen) bombs going off in Mar’s atmosphere. This fact coupled with a large asteroid impact within the center of nuclear explosions leaves from for doubt. It’s the smoking gun evidence of intelligent life on other planets. Our perhaps the lack of intelligence, for who would make a bomb with a 10 billion megaton yield. One point I found frustration was the use of acronyms: NASA, MSSS, JPL, DRM, LESA. I was ended up writing notes in the margin to keep things straight.Note to author, please add appendix in the back for acronyms!

One of the better UFOlogy books out there. Dr. Brandenburg uses fact and NASA's own data to prove two huge nuclear planet killing bombs went off on Mars at or near the time of the Permian Extinction on Earth. It should be on CNN and FOX. I have no idea why it isn't. This is NOT speculation. He proves it through Xenon 129 signatures and even attained approval from the CIA and NASA to publish.

This is a very good book, but also misleading. It is a history of the debate over the "faces" on Mars. Not until chapter 6 does it begin to mention the evidence of a nuclear holocaust on Mars. While I did enjoy the book and learned much about the very contentious Mars community, you will learn more about the possible nuclear devastation by watching a YouTube video of Dr. Brandenburg giving a speech on the topic. I was disappointed.

Fascinating and convincing, if repetitious. (It needs a good edit.)I gave it 4 not 5 stars, not because of the repetition, but because the bruised ego of the author tore my attention away from the value of his science too many times.Still, it was well researched, presented in a way that can be easily understood and the science was...well...convincing.As for the author's thoughts on the need for human colonies to occupy Mars in order to protect ourselves from the same fate, THAT is where he moves away from science into assumptions and conjecture. That is where he lost my attention and there is room for discussion and debate on those points, I think.

Very technical in places for those not well versed in higher chemistry, but the message the author brings is easy to follow, and definitely awakens your thought processes! I have wondered why so much emphasis has been placed on Mars rather than a permanent presence on the moon, which would certainly be easier/cheaper. This author's well-researched data, as well as scientific, spiritual, and personal history provide a solid base from which he expounds his startling theory.I am so glad I bought this book!

This book is incorrectly titled. I think it would be better called "My Journey to Vilified Mars Expert". If you want his personal story, and it is interesting, then by all means buy and enjoy this book. He doesn't really get to the "Death on Mars" thing until chapter 6 (pg 239 of 352) and the last chapters are all about "let's do a manned mission to Mars". I think a manned mission to Mars would be so very wonderful, but I bought the book because I was interested in the tagline which has to do with a nuclear disaster on Mars. For those of you who are wondering, it all boils down to the fact that the Martian levels of Xenon 129, Argon 40, and Krypton 84 are all congruent with the explosion of high-yield nuclear weapons. We have these same ratios on earth, and we know that nuclear tests are the cause. Further, the strongest concentrations of radioactivity are provacatively near places that seem like they might be ruins... and yes, Brandenburg worked as part of Richard Hoagland's effort to analyze landforms on Mars that some say give the impression of artificiality. So there your have it, the evidence for nuclear destruction on Mars. I wish the book had a lot more of that kind of thing instead of Brandenburg's life story.

Too much personal stuff, and too much religion. He only offers the theory that Mars was destroyed by an outside agency, when it is just as conceivable that it was from a Martian war.He advocated colonization of Mars to prevent an alien civilization destroying Earth. Doesn't seem to understand that there is still an active population on Mars and they don't want us there. Too many UFOs seen in and around Mars to discount this.Besides, if there were some et presence that had the capability to destroy Mars, Earth would've already been destroyed and we wouldn't stand a chance against such power.I think he brings toouch religion into the argument. But, in spite of these draw backs the book is pretty good.
