Just got this hot off the press, arrived in the mail. Spent an hour going through it. Author does a solid job sharing life experience around deploying SIEM, building security ops use cases, he's got a nice template, and some solid info on threat hunting.

With the most recent purchase of 20 copies, I have now ordered a total of 40 copies. This book is a great foundational set of materials for all new SOC & IR personnel at Milton Security. Along with the training we do in house, this book helps us in ensuring each team member has a good foundation of information and strategies.Would love to see it in Kindle format of course.

This is really a terrific book for anyone working in and around SOC.It covers a lot of ground (personnel, hardware, software, use cases, methodologies, processes, etc.) that an organization must setup to successfully setup a SOC that works and deliver on its mission.The book could probably benefit from being further structured in chapters: as is you can sometimes feel overwhelmed by the succession of items and topics.having read 4/5 books on the topic so far, this one is the best :)

In our State government SOC, we have used this book extensively. It has brought rhyme and reason to cacophony and disarray with regard to what a use case is and what items should it define. We now engage with customer agencies, ask what their log sources are and what we can collect, then from that can hand over a set of "basic capability" use cases. Then, working together by tuning and further understanding the environment (Don calls this process sort-of EDIS), we can offer a larger set of use cases to monitor and alert on. I recommend reading the book from cover to cover, then keeping it handy as a reference as you go about the work.

A great go-to book. A must have for any security operations center.
